Special award most counter productive UI in the photo editing category:  AllRecipes.com.

Case in point. when making a custom recipe, one is allowed to upload an image. okay. after you upload that photo of your cake or veal scallopini or whatever you get an error message telling you the photo upload failed because it must be no smaller than 960x960 and square.  Fair enough, buy why not tell me in advance that you have unique and arbitrary requirements, eh?  I could have done some image editing in advance. 

Okay, so I go to one of my image editors and crop to square and adjust the size and on the next try it works.  But, but, now it opens up a cropping tool that makes me clip it down as the whole 960x960 doesn't fit making the thumbnail look all wonky and cut off.  

Hats off to you Allrecipes web team.  Well played.
